Funeral and Embalming Services for Africa

Funeral and Embalming Services for Africa

FESA’s vision is to be the preferred training provider of value-added services from consulting to education to the Funeral Industry not only in South Africa, but to the whole continent of Africa as well.

The launch of the Funeral and Embalming Services for Africa (FESA) Training establishment is an exciting development for the South African Funeral Industry. Building and developing upon the groundwork initiated by the Funeral Academy for Africa (FAfA), FESA will be able to provide a more encompassing range of value added services and organizational development initiatives to the Industry as a whole.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Our objectives are to assist the Funeral Industry by improving business through:

  • Training and facilitation of Skills Development Programmes.
  • Management consulting interventions with regards to processes and organizational development initiatives within the Funeral Industry.
  • Procurement services for the Industry, providing high quality products at affordable prices on request.
  • Assessment for selection and development purposes.
  • Coaching and mentoring for the personnel of existing funeral companies to sustainably improve business performance.

Funeral businesses will be able to operate at their full potential, ensuring that staff may become suitably qualified and professional care-givers are provided with a clear career path.

FESA will facilitate training of the NQF Level Three Certificate in Funeral Services. This will be available on a part-time basis. Theoretical training is interspersed with practical sessions in a funeral home environment. Students will have 36 months to complete the 14 modules.

An introduction to Embalming Practice is covered in the NQF Level Three curriculum; however a full qualification meeting B.I.E requirements is envisaged. The Art of Reconstruction is also dealt with in this curriculum.

For those students who already have a minimum of five year’s working experience within a funeral home environment, the NQF Three Certificate in Funeral Service qualification may be obtained via the Recognition of Prior Learning route. (RPL)

Because FESA is entirely independent; it is able to provide confidential advice and assistance to existing companies without compromising its ethical values.
