Retrenched?

What now and what about my family?

Retrenchment became a “household” name in the homes of many South African families, due to the downturn of the economy as well as the effects of the Global recession.

Retrenchment causes financial and emotional distress. It is important that you, during this difficult time, take care of yourself to enable you to be strong for your family.
It is important that you discuss the situation with your partner/spouse, and see how these changed circumstances will affect your family. You don’t want to scare your children, but neither do you want to generalise the situation and say that it happens to a lot of other families. Discuss the financial impact on your household spending and that everyone must work together to reduce unnecessary spending on “nice to have’s”. Maintain family routines and let them see that life is still “normal”, do regular fun stuff with your children It doesn’t need to cost anything. For example, walk along the beach, play catch or play a board game. Be aware that it is just as difficult for your family as it is for you.

TSM Consulting offers a workshop to assist you to overcome this roller-coaster ride, you will have the tools at your disposal to go through the process of retrenchment victoriously!
